RE Camera: The Clearest Grade-to-Warranty Mapping in Japan
Seven grades, warranty that stops exactly where junk begins, and the shop's own warning that grade names differ between dealers.

RE Camera (アールイーカメラ) is operated by Akiba Ryutsu in Taito, Tokyo. Of the four shops compared on this site it is the smallest — and the most explicit about how condition, warranty and junk relate to each other.
The basics
| Item | What RE Camera publishes |
|---|---|
| Operator | 株式会社アキバ流通 (Akiba Ryutsu) |
| Location | Taito, Tokyo |
| Grade scale | 7 levels: S 未使用 / A 極美品 / B 美品 / C 良品 / D 並品 / E お買い得(訳あり) / J ジャンク品 |
| Used warranty | Applies to S / A / B / C / D / E — J is excluded |
| Overseas shipping | Not stated on the pages reviewed |
| Licence | Secondhand dealer, Tokyo Public Safety Commission No.307720606694 |
The mapping, and why it is useful
RE Camera assigns warranty by grade:
- S 未使用 — unused.
- A 極美品 — no noticeable marks, very clean.
- B 美品 — slight signs of use, fine scratches, no effect on images.
- C 良品 — a normal used item with marks in places; no internal problems.
- D 並品 — noticeable marks and signs of use, but functionally fine.
- E お買い得(訳あり) — "with circumstances": poor cosmetics, high shutter count, haze or fungus. Still covered by warranty, and usable depending on what you do.
- J ジャンク品 — faulty or broken, not usable normally. No warranty.
That E/J line is the most honest piece of grading design we found. Everywhere else, "junk" quietly mixes working-but-flawed items with dead ones. At RE Camera they are separate grades with separate warranty status.
The warning worth repeating
The shop says it directly on its own condition page:
> 価格比較サイトでは同じランクとして表示されていても、状態の判断基準は販売店ごとに異なります。
> Even where price-comparison sites show the same rank, the criteria for judging condition differ by dealer.
This is the thesis of our grades comparison — written by a Japanese dealer, not by us. Note also that RE Camera's B is 美品, while Kitamura's B is 並品 (second from the bottom). The same letter sits three grades apart.
Grading in practice
The shop describes inspection by dedicated staff across exterior, optics and operation, and publishes photographs alongside the written condition. For junk in particular, the written fault matters more than the letter — see the fault glossary for the vocabulary.
Who this suits
- Buying junk with a documented risk: the E/J split is the clearest in the market.
- Buyers who compare across shops: use this scale as the bridge. S–E map to "works"; J maps to "parts".
- Overseas buyers: confirm shipping before you commit — the pages reviewed here do not state an overseas policy either way, and the other three shops all decline.
Three questions worth sending them
